There is great value in the power of our choices. Let us make them wisely.

I cherish unforgettable experiences, as most of us do. I remember the wise travel choices I have made. Some ethereal trips and favorite ones include the special moments and memories in the fascinating countries of Indonesia and Taiwan.

In this island old as time, there is always something new to find. Greeted by the sun’s morning rays on the majestic island of Nuda Perdina, one is mesmerized by what is touted to be Bali’s most beautiful haven. Reminiscent of the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa and the crashing waves against the craggy cliffs of New Zealand, you will find the magic of your soul here.

The sunrise had just hit the horizon immaculately, illuminating the rice paddies with its golden glow. The azure waters and crystal, caramel-hued sand lapped the shores. The magic of the valley is a poignant manifestation in this isle of the Gods.

The interplay between subdued Balinese charm and the dramatic environs makes the Sembayang a noble practice. A prayer of solemnity characterizes this gentle sanctuary where one simply bathes in such a tranquil environment.

A new discovery on the isle of Bali is the eclectic Blooms in the Garden of Bedugul, touted to be the newest attraction in the locality. The location of this place is strategically close to Lake Bedugul. Bedugul flower garden blends exotically with the green hill in the background. From here, one is fascinated by the Balinese Gate of Gapura, the house of a Balinese noble family with traditional architecture. A sacred reflection of Balinese customs, the place resonates with the values of Hinduism.

On the other hand, allow yourselves to be transported to a nirvana nearby, a magical place favored by nature where storms, hurricanes and tidal waves are unheard of. The place is called Sabah. Located seven degrees from the equator, in this blessed “Land Below The Wind,” you will find a sanctuary of limestone caves covered with the oldest and most preserved rainforests dating back 130 million years, rugged mountain ranges that stand as fortresses protecting white sandy beaches, emerald-hued lagoons, and a great diversity of animals and coral reefs. Many have staked their claim on the Land Below the Wind.

There is a distant land butterflies call their kingdom, where the four seasons work their own magic in producing bountiful harvests of fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables all year round. Flowers and organic produce pepper the land with their flavors and colors. Tea plantations and mountain resorts sitting at a height of 1,500 meters experience incessant rains and dreamy mists.

We went lychee and longan picking at the Fairy Lake Leisure farm, an experience we appreciated and savored. The most dramatic place we visited was the Sheipa Leisure Farm located within the Sheipa National Park, 2,000 meters above sea level. The clouds formed a sea of white cotton while the mountains stood as sentinels above. Blueberries, Chinese gooseberries and kiwis of green, gold and even red spread out as far as the eyes could see. The lush vegetation amid this alpine atmosphere was a most dramatic sight.

We returned home with this beautiful memory of gardens filled with hydrangeas and pathways mixed with colorful flowers that greeted us the next dewy morning. Indeed, this dreamland became our heart’s desire.

There are other past travels that tugs at my heartstrings — far too many to explicitly mention. The best news I can share, though, is that it is now easier to experience such travel jewels.
