Over the last two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, Marian Rivera has developed more patience with what is happening in her life and the world.

“Maybe the lesson (from the pandemic) ay mas mahabang pasensya kung anong nangyayari sa mundo. Kasi ‘pag mahaba ang pasensya mo, lahat maayos mo ng tama,” she said during the question-and-answer segment of e-commerce platform Shopee’s recent media event.

She also advised to follow an interest that is close to your heart when starting up a business like what she did for Flora Vida, an online flower shop and home decor and furniture line that she owns.

“Mas maganda siguro na ginagawa mo yung trabaho na hilig mo siya dahil kapag yun yung pinili mo na i-business mo hindi ka mahihirapan at kapag ginagawa mo siya, may ligayang dulot sa puso mo,” shared the GMA’s Primetime Queen.

Meanwhile, virtual hopping is her means of relaxation after a long day of work, she revealed. “(I like to) buy ng kung anong-ano gusto ko (from Shopee) at ‘wag ng mag-isip. Pahinga agad, buy now.”

Speaking of online purchases, Marian likewise detailed how she supports her six-year-old daughter, Zia, in terms of e-shopping. The last one they bought was some stuff for Zia’s classmates through Shopee.

“For Zia kasi, marunong siya kung anong gusto niya. For example, kapag meron siyang gustong regaluhan, nagsasabi siya sa akin, ‘Mama, pwede ba tayong mag-check kung anong pwedeng ibigay natin sa classmate ko,” narrated Marian.

“Katulad last time, nag-birthday yung classmate niya. So tumingin kami ng gift para sa classmate niya. Nandun ako to guide her,” she recalled.

The newest item she bought for Zia from the e-commerce platform was a coloring book, while none for husband, Dingdong Dantes. “Hmm… what did I buy (for him)? Parang hindi ko siya masyadong binibilhan (laughs),” she answered after a long pause.

Marian is just the latest in the Dantes family to join Shopee as brand ambassador after Dingdong and Zia late last year. She said, “Hindi naman lahat nabibigyan ng ganitong pagkakataon na makasama sa malaking pamilyang ito. At siyempre natutuwa ako dahil kasama ko yung asawa ko tsaka anak ko dito ngayon sa Shopee (as endorsers),” adding how excited she is for the upcoming 3.15 Consumer Day Mega Sale.

Dingdong had this video message for his lovely wife and consumers: “Hi Shopee fam, I hope you’re all excited for 3.15 Shopee Consumer Day, Shopee’s first Mega Sale of the Year. I hope this year will be extra special for me because I will be part of the 3.15 TV special on GMA and Shopee live. At siyempre dahil kasama na natin ang aking misis and super mom ni Zia as the newest Shopee brand ambassador, kaya welcome to the Shopee family, baby. I am so proud of you.”

Marian reacted, “’Kaw naman bakit mo naman binanggit yung baby. Nalaman tuloy nila yung tawag mo sa akin (smiles).”

Moreover, Marian admitted that she is a “buy now” type of shopper. She would browse and buy items right away whenever she sees what she likes on the platform. “Ako kasi kapag may gusto ako, eh wala ng hesitation ’yan para sa akin. I’ll go and buy agad-agad. Di ba sabi nga nila kung may magpapasaya sayo, di ba i-check out mo na sa Shopee yan,” she disclosed.

“They say that we should celebrate every day and we should always be kind to ourselves. We should learn to appreciate things… For me, very timely ‘tong Consumer Day since kailangan nating bigyan ng chance sarili natin to shop para sa ating mga sarili, para sa ikakaligaya natin. Marami pang promo and discounts, so bakit ka pa mag-iisip. Go and buy. Enjoy and be happy,” she added.

She recalled that her first purchases on the platform were five pieces of rags worth P35 each and her favorite items were kitchen wares. “Andami pero mahilig kasi ako bumili ng kung anong-anong mga butingting na kung anik-anik na para sa kitchen namin. Nagluluto ako, so gusto ko maayos at maganda yung mga gamit ko sa bahay na nabibili lang sa Shopee na kayang-kaya mo talaga dahil sa presyo nila,” shared the Kapuso star.

Since summer is fast approaching, Marian will buy an inflatable swimming pool for her family. “We will go swimming kasi di naman pwedeng lumabas ng bahay kaya dun kami sa bakuran namin.”

Meanwhile, director of Shopee Philippines Martin Yu remarked about their event for the first half of the year “At Shopee, our users are at the heart of all that we do. This drives us to keep innovating, so that we can create new features, services, and campaigns that bring joy to their lives.”
