MANILA, Philippines — Filipino fans are getting a real treat right in their own backyard as more Asian stars flock the country — making the Philippines one of their major stops during an Asian tour.

Recognizing the importance of the Pinoy fan base, who are all-out in supporting their idols, are big-league producers that have brought one international star after another to the Philippine shores.

But these days, playing a pivotal role in making these fan meetings happen are the fan groups themselves.

Take Wish Us Luck PH as an example. It is a non-profit organization composed of fans who recently brought the stars from the ground-breaking Thai series Love By Chance in Manila.

The idea of putting together the fan meet happened after the Wish Us Luck PH team watched the first episode of the series aired in 2018.

“Once we saw the pilot episode, we immediately released a survey to gauge if Pinoy fans will be interested in attending the fan meet if ever we bring the cast here,” shares Ed Villamater.

Not expecting anything, the team received a substantial number of inquiries from interested fans that fueled them to mount the event. “We immediately contacted the director of the series who linked us to the tour manager. Then, we went to Bangkok to watch their first fan meet. We finalized things after the negotiations. So, it makes one proud that this event is for the fans mounted by the fans.”

During the fan meet held at SM Skydome, Pinoy and international fans alike did nothing but gush over the Love by Chance stars namely — Saint, Perth, Mean, Plann, Title, Mark, Earth and Gun, who were all excited to meet their Pinoy fans for the first time.

Fans were elated as the boys stepped out the stage and sang Wish Us Love which is part of the series’ soundtrack.

The close interaction with the stars also became a highlight of the fan meet. Attendees were able to interact, take selfies and give their gifts to their Thai idols — making it a day every Love by Chance fan would definitely want to remember and cherish.

After all the kilig performances and exciting games, the boys shared how happy they were to be visiting the Philippines and capped off the event by dedicating South Border’s hit song Rainbow to their beloved fans.

After the Philippines, the cast members set their way to China to finish the last leg of their tour.

Love by Chance, under the BL (Boys’ Love) genre, was made popular in Thailand because of the show’s unabashed representation of “guy-to-guy” relationships on screen that led to the show’s steady rise of fan base across Asia and in other parts of the world.

The series follows the story of Pete — a handsome, rich and timid university student bullied for being a closeted gay. He meets a kindhearted student Ae, who is destined to change his life forever.
