Heart Evangelista loses remaining baby
MANILA, Philippines — On June 6, actress and TV host Heart Evangelista has shared on Instagram a tragedy. She also lost the remaining baby of the twins in her womb.
“There are not enough words to express how heavy my heart feels but I know it’s important to share this because it’s part of my motherhood journey,” said Heart.
According to her, at this week’s doctor appointment, just as she hit the three-month mark, she found out that her baby’s heart has stopped beating.
“For some it might be early on but for us, we were so ready to meet you, little one. Carrying you made me feel like a completely new person. Just the thought of you taught me what unconditional love feels like.”
Heart said that the doctor told her that there was nothing she or husband Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero could have done as this happens to a higher percentage of first-time moms.
Although broken-hearted, Heart takes comfort from support and shared experience with netizens.
“I know this is true because so many of you have been open with sharing your experiences. Your kindness and positivity in sharing about your own miscarriages remind me to be strong. I am so grateful for all your love throughout this entire journey. It’s not the end, just another chapter,” she noted.
“I take comfort knowing that you’re up there with your twin. I don’t question God about this sad time, I trust in His timing and plan,” she added.
She also revealed that because of the tragedy, she will be resting from social media for a while.
“I hope you all understand that I’ll be taking some time off but your support and kind words will be felt, even if I’m not able to reply. I’m not looking for answers, just peace.”
“For what it’s worth, I already had a name for you,” she told her baby. “My Mira, funnily enough, I already loved your smile. I know you’ll find your way back to me.”
On May 17, Heart announced on Instagram that she originally was carrying twins, but the other embryo did not develop well.
“During our first ultrasound we were a mixture of excitement and nervous but nothing could prepare us for what we would learn. We found out that I had a TWIN PREGNANCY. My sister has twins but I never imagined that I would be able to have twins as well. Unfortunately one of the embryos was smaller and behind in terms of development and so we lost one of the twins,” she said.
“Our hearts were heavy at the thought but we knew we had to focus on the good. This is the first photo of the twins where you can see the other embryo who is healthy and showing more positive signs of development,” Heart enthused.
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Motherhood this early on it’s that it won’t always be sunshine and butterflies, sometimes there will be cloudy moments. But it’s these ups and downs that I know will make me a stronger Mom. We now have a little angel up there and I trust that God is with us on this beautiful journey. I have to thank my wonderful husband who really has been my partner through it all. There is no one else I would rather do this with...”
She noted that some of these things happened weeks ago, way before she announced that she is expecting her firstborn with Escudero.
