He has been appearing with the 11-member #Hashtags band on It’s Showtime! for several weeks but it was only when his alleged sex video went viral that the name Ronnie Alonte did loudly ring bells.

Ronnie, who turned 20 last October, insisted that he isn’t the guy pleasuring himself on the video, citing detailed reasons.

“I just laughed when I saw it,” confessed Ronnie. “Never akong nag-video sa sarili ko. The guy in the video is using his left hand, kaliwete; I am right-handed. Even my family is only amused by that video. Natatawa lang sila. I kept on denying and denying, kahit ang mga taga-media ay nababastusan na sa mga sagot ko — you know, hindi ako ‘yung nasa video kasi mas malaki ‘yung sa akin, hehehe!!!”

“Starring” in a sex video, whether fake or real, is the most effective way of being talked about. Everybody is, I guess, a voyeur by nature. Funny but Ronnie has a lot to be thankful for for that sex video because it’s helping promote his two movies showing in this month’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Star Cinema’s Vince & Kath & James (VKJ) directed by Theodore Boborol and Reality Entertainment’s Seklusyon directed by Erik Matti.

In VKJ, Ronnie is in a love triangle with Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia. The movie is based on the hit online romantic series about Vince (Joshua) and Kath (Julia) whose relationship is told by means of screenshots of text messages. Ronnie’s character (the third wheel) is added in the movie version.

In Seklusyon, set in 1947 after World War II when the country was in chaos, Ronnie plays one of four deacons (with Dominic Roque, John Vic de Guzman and J.R. Versales) sent to a seclusion house to keep them away from worldly desires. It is believed that the last seven days before ordination are the most dangerous for would-be priests because that’s the time when they will be tempted by the devil.

“I never expected things to happen this fast,” admitted Ronnie, who quit his Marketing/Business Management studies at University of Perpetual Help Laguna to concentrate on showbiz. “All I wanted was to be a basketball player.”

He is the youngest boy among six siblings, two of whom are employed abroad. His father is a Notary Public who is a close relative of the former mayor of Biñan, Laguna, and now the province’s congresswoman; and his mother is a plain housewife. Ronnie’s family is from Biñan City.

“I love to sing, that’s why I auditioned for It’s Showtime,” added Ronnie. “The other members of #Hashtags are my friends because I have played basketball with them.”

On Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Kia Theatre, Ronnie’s singing prowess (and drawing power) will be put to a test during his Ronnie Alonte#kiligking concert, directed by Marvin Caldito, featuring #Hashtags, guests Bugoy Cariño, Loisa Andalio, Julia Barretto and Erich Gonzales (with Vice Ganda as possible special guest).

Ronnie stands 5’10”; weighs 154 lbs.; and wears L-size shirt, M-size briefs and size-10 shoes.

What kind of diet do you follow?

“I am not on a diet. I eat anything, eh.”

What’s usually for breakfast?

“Cereals with milk.”

What about lunch and dinner?

“Whatever I find on the table, hehehe!!!”

Snacks?

“Anything.”

What vitamins do you take?

“Usana para malakas…lumakas, hehehe!!!”

How much water do you take per day?

“Eight glasses.”

What workout do you do?

“Jogging and basketball.”

What part of your body needs improvement?

“Chest kasi dibdiban ang labanan ngayon, hehehe!!! Joke lang po.”

What part of your body is most vulnerable?

“My hands because I can use them for many things.”

And what part is your favorite?

“Abs ko para hot, hehehe!!!”

What part of a girl’s body do you look at first?

“Her butt. Malakas ang dating n’un sa akin.”

What else in a girl turns you on?

“Yung kaya niyang masabayan ang trip ko.”

And what turns you off?

“The maarte type, hehehe!!!”

How much sleep do you get per night?

“Usually, four hours. Sometimes, only two hours but it depends what time the taping or shooting is packed up.”

Favorite sleepwear?

“T-back. It makes me feel cool, para malamig sa buong katawan. Joke only, hehehe!!! Actually, boxers which make me feel comfortable.”

How many pillows do you sleep with?

“Four. Yes, apat dapat para sobrang relaxed.”

Do you snore?

“Yes, especially when I am tired.”

Do you talk in your sleep?

“Yes, always.”

Do you sleepwalk?

“Sometimes.”

Last thing that you do before you go to sleep?

“Pray…to thank God for all the blessings.”

First thing that you do as soon as you wake up?

“Pee and then brush my teeth.”

Do you drink?

“Yes, occasionally.”

“Hang out with friends.”

“Just at home where I am free to do everything.”

“Sa ngayon wala pa po.”
