From Aug. 3 to 5, the WTA Tour continues as it makes a stop at Carlsbad, California for the 2013 Southern California Open.

The event used to be known as the Mercury Insurance Open was established in 1984 and will take place for the 29th time this season. The contestants will play on hard surface for a grand prize of $700,000 at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in West California.

This year’s event will feature a new champion as last year’s title holder — Dominika Cibulkova — will not be included in the list of participants when the competition begins. Among those who will participate in the tournament are Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland; Victoria Azarenka (Belarus); Roberta Vinci (Italy), among others.

With Cibulkova unable to defend her crown, the tournament is now open for the rest of the competition.

Catch all the action on Solar Sports on Aug. 3 via satellite at 6:30 a.m. (quarterfinals); Aug. 4 via satellite at 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. (semi-finals); and Aug. 5 via satellite at 6:30 a.m. (finals).
