3 Viagras didn’t work for Zoren

FUNFARE UPDATE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

So what happened on their first night as legally-married husband and wife (at a civil ceremony last Thursday, Nov. 15, hatched up under wraps by the groom and accomplices as a “surprise” to the bride)?

“We were not able to sleep,” said Carmina Villarroel, wearing the Harry Winston wedding ring (rumored cost: P2M grand). “I was overwhelmed; there were so many questions in my mind — you know, how my husband was able to pull it off, with me as the last to know.”

Volunteered Zoren Legaspi, the triumphant husband, “Yes, we stayed awake until morning,” adding in jest, “so nothing happened.”

“Besides,” added Carmina, “our twins (Cassandra and Maverick who were Maid of Honor and Best Man at the wedding) were with us.”

“I was so tired after the preparation that took one month and a half that I wanted to take three pieces of Viagra,” countered Zoren, “although I really doubted if they would work.”

Carmina gently tapped Zoren’s shoulder and exclaimed, “Sobra ka naman!”

Kidding aside, on that night, Zoren said that he felt shy (as in medyo naiilang) as if they were really newly-married.

“It was as if the 12 years that we were living together was erased and we were starting a new chapter in our life, parang Breaking Dawn Part 2. Everything was doubled — my respect for her and the way I take care of her, and I became more patient when she lingers in the bathroom.”

“I realty take time in the bathroom,” admitted Carmina. “That’s my ‘alone’ time and I don’t want to be disturbed.”

What if, just IF, Carmina had said no to his surprise proposal done with him down on one knee?

“A lot of people were asking me that,” revealed Zoren, “and I was ready for it. I was holding the ring in my right hand and a stone in my left hand,” adding with a laugh, “at kung nag-say no siya, pupukpukin ko talaga siya, hahahaha!”

What about their honeymoon?

“Well,” said Zoren, “we’re planning to go to Spain because Carmina wants to trace their family roots on her (late) mom’s side.”

Any immediate plan to give their twins a brother or a sister?

“It’s not really planned,” said Carmina. “Kapag dumating, okey lang.”

And any big change now that they are legally married (with Court of Appeals Justice Amy Javier officiating; the wedding was delayed by some technicality in the annulment of Carmina’s marriage to the “late” Rustom Padilla, “resurrected” as BB Gandanghari)?

“I feel more confident now with us being called a family,” said Zoren.

“I feel the same way,” seconded Carmina. “Dati, we were just partners. Now, it feels nice to say, ‘Asawa ko,’ with confidence na. Mas may pride.”

Regine still ‘voiceless’

but recovering fast

Four days after she lost her voice during her Silver (25th-anniversary) concert Friday night at the SM Arena, Regine Velasquez still has to recover her voice but is recovering fast, hopefully as good as new when a repeat is mounted before the year is over.

“There’s no definite date yet,” Regine announced in a hoarse voice when she faced the movie press yesterday as image model for The Belo Clinic’s Sexy Solutions which she credited for helping her shed avoirdupois that she gained while heavy with Nate, her and husband Ogie Alcasid’s first child, born in November last year. “But the SM management assured us that they will let us use the venue for free.” (Only ticket-holders to the Nov. 15 concert will be admitted.)

Now down to a little more than 130 pounds, Regine confirmed that what got her was viral infection. It was Nate who was infected first and then almost everybody at home got it.

“I was the last to get the virus,” said Regine, “my resistance was strong because of the juices that I was taking as part of the special Sexy Solutions diet prepared for me.”

Losing one’s voice is not new to singers. It happened to Celine Dion who had to postpone her show in Las Vegas, and even to Julie Andrews who suffered from a botched surgery on her nodules, rendering her unable to reach the high notes that she used to. When I interviewed Beyonce years ago in Phuket, Thailand, she also lost her voice, so she showed up at the interview with her fellow two Destiny’s Child co-members but politely begged off from talking and only communicated by sign language.

Fortunately, Regine didn’t have to resort to that in yesterday’s presscon.

Don’t worry. She’ll be at her usual best during her repeat show.

What’s up?

Sen. Koko Pimentel (left) is Kris Aquino’s (right) special guest on her ABS-CBN show KrisTV today. When they were younger, the two (then fancy-free) were being matched; even Kris’ late mom, Pres. Cory Aquino, reportedly wanted Kris to go out on a date with Koko who had just topped the bar at that time. Now that they are both fancy-free again, both legally separated from their mates, will there be, uhm, spark between them? Like Koko, Kris is in good terms with her “ex.” Topic of today’s show is responsible parenthood.
