Alphaland extends support to Itogon communities

MANILA, Philippines — Alphaland Baguio Mountain Lodges (ABML) is working with the local government and neighboring communities in Itogon, Benguet, following a month of sustained rainfall that has triggered landslides and disrupted several areas of the municipality.
The province of Benguet has been placed under a state of calamity following prolonged severe weather that has affected communities and infrastructure across the province.
Landslides have affected properties and families in barangays surrounding ABML, as well as portions of the ABML property. Based on information available as of Aug. 31, no casualties have been reported in the affected barangays or within ABML.
Alphaland is coordinating with local authorities to assist affected families in surrounding communities and support ongoing relief and safety efforts.
“Our neighbors in Itogon are going through a very difficult time, and we are doing what we can alongside the local government to help,” said Dennis Valdes, president of Alphaland Corp. “Within our own property, we are taking no chances with anyone’s safety.”
As a precautionary measure to protect homeowners, visitors, employees and contractors, ABML is closed to all homeowners and visitors until further notice.
The temporary closure will allow response teams to remove debris and assess affected areas without obstruction.
Alphaland has engaged independent engineering specialists to evaluate the condition of roads, slopes, structures and other infrastructure within ABML.
