Sony Ericsson adds W8 to Walkman phone line

MANILA, Philippines - Sony Ericsson has added the Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone — a great entertainment smartphone that extends the appeal of the Walkman collection.

The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone will be available exclusively across the Asia-Pacific and China.

The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone features a user interface that can be customized for one-touch access to the users’ favorite applications — a feature found on the Xperia mini range of products. The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone allows for quick and easy access to playlists and the Walkman player. It also comes complete with the MH 410 stereo headset.

“Our Walkman range of phones continues to generate demand especially in the Asia-Pacific and China — where the Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone will be exclusively ranged,” said Dennis Manzano, Sony Ericsson general manager.

“The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone combines Walkman functionality with smartphone fundamentals such as apps, maps and e-mail to create the most entertaining smartphones,” Manzano said.

The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone is perfect for enjoying multimedia. The three-inch screen is great for users who are looking to enjoy games from the Android Market, view the latest clips on YouTube or browse the Web.

Additionally, the device features a 3.2-megapixel camera, video recording functionality and a 3.5-mm headphone jack.

Key features include a corner user interface for easy one-hand use and one-touch access to applications; customization of corners for instant access to favorite widgets and apps on the homepage; games, video, Internet and more on its three-inch screen; Timescape to show all communication in one place; Android Market with more than 150,000 of applications; 3.2-megapixel camera for snapping photos away and uploading instantly to Facebook; fast Internet access via 3G and Wi-Fi; Walkman-designed hardware and user interface; Walkman widget on home screen; and Android platform (version 2.1).

The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone will be available in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam from the second quarter 2011 in the iconic Walkman orange. 

In the Philippines, the W8 Walkman phone will ship with a 4GB card.
