Canon kicks off ‘Digital Creators Contest’

-
The advent of digital technology and the Internet has propelled pervasive use of personal computers, digital cameras, digital video camcorders and color printers. Now it is easier than ever for anyone to express their creativity or communicate through digital still images, moving images and audio.

With this, Canon, one of the leading companies in the field of digital imaging products and solutions, has launched the "Canon Digital Creators Contest," a global competition meant to discover and support new talent among those who use this technology.

The Canon Digital Creators Contest was initiated in 2000. This year’s entries will be judged based on creativity, novelty, power of expression and message.

The roster of judges includes some of the foremost authorities in the imaging and graphic fields: award-winning photographer Jeff Schewe and British creative unit "tomato" for Digital Photo (Print); illustrator and art director Katsura Moshino and tomato director Hiroyuki Nakano for Digital Graphics/Illustration (Print); Digital Domain Inc. CEO, president and co-founder Scott Ross for Digital Movie; and artist and technologist Joshua Davis for the Web.

The contest is open to everyone, amateurs and professionals alike, who can redefine the realm of digital visual expression. This year’s contest has four categories – Digital Photo (Print), Digital Graphics/Illustration (Print), Digital Movie and the Web – with prize money totaling $112,000, including a $20,000 Gold Award to be presented in each division. The Canon Award and other special awards from participating sponsors will also be handed out in each division.

Entry guidelines and other information are available at www.canon.com/cdcc/. Participants in Asia can submit application forms and entries directly to "Canon Digital Creators Contest" Hong Kong Secretariat, 20/F, Chinachem, Exchange Square, 1 Hoi Wan st., Quarry Bay, Hong Kong.
