Worldbex seminars tackle trends

Architects, engineers, interior designers and other construction trade professionals in the country go to only one destination to know the scoop in building and construction, the 5th Worldbex Seminars 2003–the country’s power-learning event of the year.

The much-anticipated technical seminars series of the building and construction industry slated to run from March 20 to 22 at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) in Pasay City, the 5th Worldbrex Seminars 2003 has gathered powerhouse speakers who will discuss major issues and trends concerning the industry.

According to Worldbex executive director, Architect Francisco Flameño, the seminar will tackle relevant and timely topics and interests in the building and construction scene in the country such as environmental design, fire protection, security, architectural multi-level designs, among others by inviting world-renowned personalities in architecture, real estate development, interior design and engineering.

"We brought them in as a special opportunity for the professionals to witness the world’s best industry authorities without the expense of going out of the country," Flameño said.

The speakers will converge at PTTC to provide information and studies to the seminar participants. The Philippines’ Nestor Mangio will present a paper on The Making of a Model Community Under Environmental Design while Emmanuel Cruz will discuss the Basics of Crime Prevention Thru Environmental Design.

Singapore’s Carl Ettensperger presents a paper on The Planning/Design of Hotels & Resorts: Know Thy Market; Martin Klaasen of Australia will give the latest on Lighting Design and Architectural Harmony and Lorenz Pe Benito of USA will take up Façade as Photosynthetic Metabolic Machine: An Intregration of Agriculture in Exterior Design.

Other speakers include Adrew Miller of the United Kingdom who will discuss Mega Projects: Design Evolution; Joseph Francis Wong of Thailand will lecture on Standardization for Flexibiliy Multi-Level Design; Thailand’s Soontorn Boonyatikarn on Green Architecture Incorporating Energy and Ecology; and Malaysia’s Tay Hao Giang on Practical Approach for Active and Passive Fire Protection Design for High-Rise Building.

The 5th Worldbex Seminars 2003 is one of the main highlights of Worldbex 2003, the 8th Philippine World Building and Construction Exposition set on March 19 to 23 at the World Trade Center (WTC) and PTTC. The trade show is organized by Worldbex Services International (WSI).
