Business As Usual

More than a sporting chance for tomorrow’s newsmen

BUSINESS CHIC - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

Big company names run by two of the country’s biggest moguls PLDT chairman Manny V. Pangilinan and San Miguel Corp. president Ramon S. Ang led the heavy list of corporate sponsors of the recently concluded Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC) Scholarship Golf Tournament at the Sta. Elena golf course in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.  MOPC chairman Jose Manuel ‘Babe’ Romualdez joined his fellow media men, industry executives and other avid players of the sport for a friendly game of golf with no less than four ambassadors: Harry Thomas, Jr. of the US, Toshinao Urabe of Japan, VP Hirubalan of Singapore, and Yohanes Kristiarto Legowo of Indonesia as special guests of honor.  The invitational MOPC charity golf event is being held for the fourth straight year to raise funds to be used as educational assistance in college scholarships for those deserving students who plan to take up journalism, as well as other MOPC projects. Needless to say, the sporting event was very successful.  Congratulations to the hardworking Babe for organizing an event that not only fosters camaraderie but also helps in producing the next generation of journalists.  See you again next year!
