MANILA, Philippines — Broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is supporting its infrastructure buildup with the expansion of its field team, hiring close to 600 technicians in the first quarter.

Between January and March, Converge employed nearly 600 personnel to serve as maintenance staff and service linemen tasked to realize its plans of expanding its national footprint this year.

Converge mandated its people and culture (P&C) group to oversee the recruitment campaign by mounting open houses and conducting regional caravans in partnership with the academe.

Further, Converge senior vice president head of P&C group Mylene Sardinia said the provider is teaming up with the public employment service offices of local governments to look for talents. This way, personnel can work closer to their communities.

Converge is also collaborating with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to seek graduates of technical and vocational programs. The internet service provider is open to jobseekers with no prior experience but are willing to learn.

“By targeting specific locations, regions and barangays, we enable technicians to work nearer to home and serve the communities that rely on our networks,” Sardinia said.

Converge is also pairing these on-the-ground efforts with an online push to find applicants, similar to its pandemic hiring spree.

Internally, Sardinia said Converge rolls out management training and rewards systems that aim to benefit personnel who have risen through the ranks and are now handling their own teams.

Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy said it is important for the company to invest in talent development as well, not just in infrastructure assets.
