MANILA, Philippines — Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said MPower, its local retail electricity supplier, would provide the energy requirements of a manufacturing plant in Laguna.

In a statement, Meralco said MPower partnered with JX Metals Philippines Inc. for the energy needs of the latter’s manufacturing plant in Biñan, Laguna.

“This 2024, MPower is proud to reinstate our commitment to being a trusted partner of JX Metals. We are confident that we will be able to support the company’s evolving requirements, especially with One Meralco’s wide suite of services that are meant to add value to its business operations,” Meralco first vice president and head of MPower Redel Domingo said.

JX Metals stands to benefit from the “competitively” priced renewable energy portfolio of its retail electricity supplier arm, Meralco said.

“MPower continues to build up its clean energy supply portfolio by partnering with greenfield RE power plants to meet the growing demand for renewable energy supply in the contestable market,” said Eddie John Adug, senior assistant vice president and head of retail sales of MPower.

JX Metals has been a customer of MPower since 2013 with the two parties renewing their partnership this year. Aside from power supply, MPower collaborates with JX Metals through other Meralco subsidiaries such as MServ, Meralco Power Academy, Radius and Bayad.
