RCBC empowering employees through its Leadership U

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), one of the country’s top universal banks, remains true to its mission of developing a talented base of officers and employees by instituting its very own Leadership University.

Modeled after formal educational institutions, Leadership U offers ladderized sets of courses, catering to all management levels.  Programs include the Officer Development Program (ODP) and General Operations Learning Program (GOLD) for junior level employees; Supervisory Development Program (SDP), Retail Bank Learning Academy, and Middle Management Development Program (MMDP) – in partnership with the De La Salle University Center for Professional Development in Business and Economics – for middle level managers; Leadership Development Program (LDP) – in partnership with John Clements, Inc. and Harvard Business Publishing, and the Executive Development Program in Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for top level officers.

In association with prestigious educational institutions here and abroad, the Leadership U is considered as the most innovative and comprehensive corporate training initiative in the Philippine banking industry.

“RCBC continues to strengthen its leadership bench by institutionalizing ground-breaking programs in the Leadership U.  Our programs have attracted the best and brightest young talents who now occupy key positions in the bank.  This shows our unwavering commitment to empower our employees and breed great leaders,” said RCBC human resources group head and first senior vice president Rowena F. Subido.

“Since the Leadership University started, more of our employees have stayed with the bank.  In turn, we have a higher employee retention rate than the industry average.  Also, we have observed a consistently significant increase in the number of job applicants,” Subido added.

With the Leadership U, RCBC’s human resource group has started to create a strong foundation for its next generation of dynamic leaders. By 2015, it envisions to have an academy dedicated to develop each of the bank’s business units, which would comprise the RCBC Corporate University. The bank’s management believes in the importance of investing on its talents to ensure operational longevity and success.
