DTI to open more SM-based Business Service Centers

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is opening Business Service Centers in SM malls to provide more venues for business name registration.

In a statement, the DTI said it has forged an agreement with SM for the establishment of Business Service Centers in all SM malls
nationwide.

The DTI Business Service Centers would initially cover 24 SM malls in Metro Manila as well as those in Bacoor and Dasmarinas in Cavite, Santa Rosa and Calamba in Laguna, and Marilao in Bulacan.

The Business Service Centers are being put up to provide individuals another venue for filing business name applications.
The move is in line with the government’s aim of encouraging more business activity in the country.

“We want to encourage more businesses in the country,” Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo said.

He said the government wants to encourage more businesses to be created to help generate jobs and support economic growth.

To support the growth of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the DTI is implementing several programs.

Earlier this year, the DTI launched the electronic payment facility
for business registration to make it easier to set up a business in
the country.

Under the Shared Service Facilities program, the DTI provides
equipment to help improve the quality of products of MSMEs.

The department also provides training under the SME Roving Academy.

Domingo said earlier the DTI intends to implement more programs to support MSMEs next year.
