Amadeus launches hotel booking service

MANILA, Philippines - Amadeus, the leading global technology partner to the travel and tourism industry, launched yesterday in the Philippines a service that would provide the public the widest range of hotels to book on their travels.

Dubbed as the Amadeus Hotel Store, the Philippines became only the third country in the Asia Pacific region after Australia and China to have the service available to the travelling public.

Amadeus Asia Pacific Hotel distribution and travel services business group director Kartikeya Tripathi said the new service will offer hotel booking options that range from one- to five -star hotels.

 “We plan to have most of the one-to four-star hotels in the Philippines available in Amadeus Hotel Store. We expect this to benefit local travelers, small and medium scale enterprises, and large corporate bookings,” Tripathi said.

He said they expect 700 Philippine hotels and destination resorts to be made available over the next two months at the Amadeus Hotel Store.

Through its partnership with Transhotel Global Travel Services Provider, Amadeus can boast of having more than 135,000 hotels worldwide available for booking.

“This is an exciting time in Asia with more than 500,000 rooms being built this year alone,” Tripathi said

Tripathi said Amadeus Hotel Store is expected to have a 95 percent deployment among the more than 2,000 Philippine travel agencies using the Amadeus platform.

Amadeus Hotel Store will offer the best available room rates and other features including an interactive map to the hotel, improved search capabilities on a per city basis, commentaries by individuals on their experiences with the hotels, and list of activities and entertainment offered by the hotel.

“The Philippines has a very vibrant travel agency sector with unique needs. We are here to provide them with the best technology available for them to increase their businesses,” Tripathi added.
