IPVG gaming unit inks deal with Chinese firm

- Zinnia B. Dela Peña -

IP E-Game Ventures Inc., the online gaming business unit of IT and gaming conglomerate IPVG Corp., has forged a licensing agreement with Perfect World Co. Ltd., a leading online game developer and operator in China.

Under the agreement, IP E-Games will license Perfect World’s Zhu Xian game in the Philippines, IPVG said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Perfect World primarily develops three-dimensional (3D) online games based on the proprietary Angelica 3D game engine and game development platform. The company’s strong technology and creative game design capabilities, combined with extensive local knowledge and experience, allows it to frequently and rapidly introduce popular games that are designed to cater to changing customer preferences and market trends in China.

Aside from Zhu Xian, Perfect World’s current portfolio of self-developed online games includes 3D massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs) – Perfect World, Legend of Martial Arts, Perfect World II, and Chi Bi; and a 3D casual game Hot Dance Party.

IP E-Games, on the other hand, is the leading online games publisher in the Philippines and holds the top three titles in the Philippines namely — Ran Online, O2Jam and Audition. An addition to its roster of MMORPGs is Cabal Online, a unique third-person game that combines futuristic, fantasy and medieval themes into one action-packed, sophisticated role playing adventure. It is expected to be one of the biggest titles to hit the Filipino online gaming community.

Strategic minority investors of IP E-Games include the Philippine Star Group and E-Store Exchange, an affiliate of GMA Network.

Since its introduction of the revolutionary free-to-play system, IP E-Games has leapfrogged other publishers to the forefront of the local online game market.

“Our goal from the start has been to liberalize online gaming in the Philippines. We want to free gamers from having to worry about running out of credits while they are in-game. It is all about freedom to the gaming community,” IPVG said.
