Want a put-together yet natural look this summer?

Uptown/Downtown invited ace makeup artist Rey Legarda to share his go-to step-by-step summer party protocol.

To make the look even more achievable, we challenged Rey to only use drugstore products to achieve the finished result.

With this seven-step routine, you should be out the door in under 20 minutes!

1. Rey applies BB Cream on Katharine’s clean skin. ‘Keep BB Cream in your purse for regular touch-ups. Also, use a BB Cream that has high SPF and PA rating. This will protect you from the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays,’ he says. (Rey uses The Face Shop’s Miracle Finish BB Powder Perfect Cushion SPF 50+, PA+++.)
2. Rey immediately applies loose face powder under the eyes and allows it to ‘bake’ for a few minutes. This technique allows the base foundation to have a creaseless, immaculate finish. Rey proceeds to use an orange-hued powder on the lids. Using a clean brush, he blends the color towards the brow bone area. Next, he takes a warm brown eyeshadow and applies it on the eyelid forming a dome shape. Using a clean brush, he proceeds to blend the shadows together. (Rey uses In2It’s Sheer Matte Blush in Cantaloupe and NYX Prismatic Eye Shadow in Bedroom Eyes.)
3. Using a small, compact brush, Rey creates a black smudge line nearest the model’s upper lash line. He immediately diffuses the line further by overlaying a brown powder over the black line. (Rey uses Maybelline 24-Hour Eyeshadow in Audacious Asphalt and e.l.f. Baked Eyeshadow in Bark.)
4. Nothing adds drama like a pair of false eyelashes! Rey cautions, though, ‘Be mindful of lash glue bubbling over the false lashes. Clean the excess using a Q-tip.’ (Rey uses Bohktoh False Eyelashes.)
5. After Rey dusts off the upper cheek area with loose powder, he then fills the brows using brown eyebrow powder. ‘If you can help it, avoid black and gray brow powders,’ he suggests. ‘These shades are too harsh. They harden and age the face considerably.’ (Rey uses Maybelline New York Fashion Brow Palette.)
6. For a sun-kissed look, Rey dabs a peach-toned powder blush on Katharine’s cheeks. He then dabs a bit of highlighter above the peach powder. With a clean brush, he blends the shades together. (Rey uses NYX Professional Makeup BBL08 Baked Blush-Ignite and e.l.f. Baked Highlighter Blush Gems.)
7. Lastly, Rey fills Katharine’s lips with a creamy pink lip cream. (Rey uses NYX Professional Makeup SMLC24 Soft Matte Lip Cream-Paris.)
