How to look like a Red-Carpet queen

BEAUTY'S SECRETS - Chechel Joson -

I think most women would agree when I say that we all aspire to look like Hollywood stars. Why not? Dreams are free. But sometimes, dreams do come true so be careful with what you wish for. You never know what can happen and make sure you’re prepared when your dreams suddenly come true. Aspiring is a very good thing both to the senses and most especially to the spirit. It gives the soul a sense of fulfillment and inner happiness.

Who wouldn’t aspire to look like the Red-Carpet queens like Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Elizabeth Hurley, Charlize Theron, Kate Beckinsale, Scarlett Johansson, Cate Blanchett, Renee Zellweger, Reese Witherspoon, and our very own, Lucy Torres-Gomez. To me, they are the epitome of glamour. Very simple, yet undeniably elegant. When they wear couture dresses, their faces are almost bare, showing their natural, exemplary and enigmatic beauty. This is one of the reasons why the paparazzi go crazy when they see these fabulous stars. Just to capture that glimpse makes them content, as if they had won a prize. We all do get star-struck. When I saw Claudia Schiffer in person, I froze. How can someone be so perfect? She was like a Barbie Doll come alive. Such perfect flawless skin and absolutely stunning. Who wouldn’t want to aspire to be like her?

Why do you think all these fabulous beauties take days and sometimes weeks to prepare for a Red-Carpet event? They work out, go on a strict healthy diet and get facials, treatments and massages so they can look as simple and natural looking as possible.

When you are well prepared for important events like fashion shows, dinners, gala events, photo shoots or television shoots, you will have a different aura. You will look and exude more confidence with ease. You will look effortlessly breathtaking.

In Red-Carpet events, long-wearing makeup is crucial. When you are confident that the products that you are using will stay on all night, then you don’t have to stress about going to the powder room to check if you still look fresh. Always consider that if you’re wearing a couture creation, keep your makeup simple. By doing this, your look is fresh yet modern. It’s a different take on simple elegance yet undeniably a very Red-Carpet look. So when you get to your Red-Carpet event, before you get off your car, close your eyes, inhale, think Hollywood and then smile...

How to prepare for your event

At least one week before the event

1. Of course with the guidance of your nutritionist or your health doctor, go on a healthy diet.

2. Choose a diet that is right for your body and for your health condition. If you are perfectly healthy and your doctor gives you a go signal, I suggest doing a Perricone diet (www.perriconemd.com). This has the “anti-inflammatory diet” that is salmon-based. This will help make you look and feel “not bloated.” This diet will benefit your health in the long run, regulate your insulin levels and most of all, it’s an anti-oxidant diet that will greatly benefit your skin.

3. No desserts, sweets or too much salty food for a least a week. Sugar contributes to the inflammation of cellular level throughout your body.

4. Make sure to workout so you “sweat” to detoxify.

5. Drink lots of water.

6. Make sure to sleep at least seven hours every night. Use an eye cream that will target your problem areas. If you have dark circles, use an eye cream that will help with the discoloration.

7. Go to your favorite spa that is relaxing. I suggest going to Chi spa at the Edsa Shangri-La hotel. Here you will find the peace your spirit needs and a haven for de-stressing and relaxing your body.

8. Visit your dermatologist and get a face scrub, or a diamond peel. Exfoliating your skin should be done at least three to four days before your event. This will create a very healthy glow to your skin. Do not do any kind of invasive pricking procedures a week before your event. Give your skin enough time to “heal.”

If you have at least two months before the event

1. Get a peel from your dermatologist. This is the time for your acne, blackhead or whitehead extractions so your skin will have enough time to “heal.”

2. Sleep at least seven hours every night. Make sure to use a very good eye cream.

3. Make sure to work out and sweat. Try doing Pilates or yoga. These stretching exercises will improve your posture that will help you walk taller, making you look longer in a very relaxed manner. Best of all, you will look toned and healthy. Make sure to do it at least three times a week.

4. No sweets. No salty food.

5. Always remember to check with your doctor first before going on any diet.

Get the Red-Carpet look:

1. Cleanse. Tone and moisturize if needed.

2. Groom eyebrows well. Lightly fill in with eyebrow pencil. Brush to blend.

3. Use a base that your foundation can hold on longer to so your makeup lasts for more than at least 10 hours. Try Flawless Perfection’s two-step system. Or try a long wearing foundation like Lasting Performance.

4. Apply the foundation as light as you can. Set it with loose powder.

5. On the eyes, keep it very light just with Earth Spirit’s rose whisper. Nothing dark.

6. Curl the lashes and apply Masterpiece Max waterproof mascara.

7. Lightly sweep classic rose on the cheeks.

8. Lipfinity’s color and gloss in shimmering pink will make your lip color stay on longer than normal lip colors.
