Risa Hontiveros running for Senate on third try
MANILA, Philippines — Philhealth Director Risa Hontiveros on Wednesday filed her certificate of candidacy for a Senate slot before the Commission on Elections for the third time.
Hontiveros said that although she is at a "striking distance" from the magic 12 in the senatorial surveys, it gave her hope to pursue her senatorial bid.
"I'm confident that this time we will win," Hontiveros said.

Hontiveros filed her candidacy wearing yellow as she will run under the administration ticket.
Hontiveros vowed to prioritize addressing three main problems of the country, poverty and health after she wins a seat in the Upper House.
"Dalawang importanteng bagay ang dala namin sa ikatlong laban na ito... Senado para din sa ordinaryong mamayan, kalusugang pangkalahatan patuloy na kontra sa korupsyon," Hontiveros said.
"Patuloy ko pong palalawakin 'yung base na nakita namin noong nakaraang pagsubok," she added.
