Galliano for Margiela

MANILA, Philippines - The fashion world has had its say. After three years of being away from the public eye, controversial British fashion designer John Galliano is back, this time working with Belgian fashion house Maison Martin Margiela as its newly appointed head designer, his first collection coming out in time for the January Haute Couture fashion week at Paris next year. While the international fashion set is publicly showing support through social media after the announcement was made last October 6, fans of Margiela’s understated, raw edged, and re-worked aesthetic might have a difficult time aligning the house’s ideologies with Galiano’s well-know preference for theatrical and opulent designs. Still, given the designer’s penchant for impeccably made clothing, they have that, at least, in common. We’re curious to see how the collaboration will turn out, and whether John Galiano’s latest press photo (released at the same time the Margiela appointment was made, depicting a somewhat “reformed” and “cleaned-up” version of the designer) will be in line with the fans’ expectations of the favored fashion house.

Naomi and Kate for Gogglebox

Ever wondered what watching TV with two of the world’s most famous supermodels is like? Well, on October 17, we’re about to find out. Gogglebox, the famous British television series, announced that they will be airing a special episode starring none other than super model BFFs Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. The show, where the audience views real people in real time “goggling at the box” or rather, watching popular television shows and commenting, will air the special episode of the opinionated and hilarious supermodel BFF’s. The hour-long sketch will feature other British celebrities, including Noel Gallagher (of Oasis fame), and is intended to raise money for Channel 4 Network’s Stand Up to Cancer foundation.

JLaw does Vanity Fair

“The Fappening” and the countless celebrity nudes that scattered the Internet from the great iCloud hack of 2014 is one of the biggest scandals of the year thus far. Those whose photographs were leaked were quick to speak out in defense of themselves to the public, but whether the photos were “fake” or “photoshopped,” or real and private, many of the attacked celebrities spoke out quickly in defense of themselves and the other victims of the crime in an effort to nip it in the bud. The most famous of all, however, 24-year old actress Jennifer Lawrence (arguably the most googled celebrity from The Fappening,) kept conspicuously silent. That is, of course, until now. Vanity Fair’s October issue cover girl finally speaks out on the scandal, along with one of the most startlingly beautiful covers we’ve seen all year. Reminiscent of Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic photograph by Helmut Lang, the actress, who is submerged in water and dripping with diamonds, tackles the issues of hacking, sex crimes and celebrity privacy in the exclusive interview.

Hello, Halloween

October is a crucial month for beauty junkies — nothing puts their makeup skills to the test like Halloween. Fear not, MAC’s new collaboration with The Rocky Horror Picture Show, out this month, makes whatever you do to your face instantly legit. Rocky Horror Picture Show, which celebrating its 40th anniversary, collaborated with MAC in creating products designed to recreate the looks of characters from the cult classic film. There are deep gothic reds and intense purples for the lips, the blackest of blacks for the eyes, and old, black and red Glitter and Pigments for a showstopping finish.

Glossier and glossier

Credit it to cute packaging, or the marketing genius of Into The Gloss’ Emily Weiss and her beauty possé — makeup and skincare newbie Glossier has been all over Instagram this past week. Glossier is a direct-to-consumer brand, which means it only does special deliveries and, get this: Emily delivered the orders herself on the day of the launch. According to Refinery29, the Glossier line will be released in waves, focusing first on “skincare as makeup” — products that create a perfectly primed canvas. The collection includes rosewater setting spray, priming moisturizer, skin tint and skin balm.
