YStyle talks to Brooke Shields about her new MAC makeup collection
MANILA, Philippines - Everything about Brooke Shields is so major, it’s hard to imagine a time when she didn’t feel so big. But at 15, Miss Hair-and-Brows felt trapped. “You can’t get away from your own face,” she said one recent fall afternoon at the MAC headquarters in Soho, where she spoke about her upcoming makeup collaboration and how it felt like to grow up as the muse of a decade. “When there’s so much focus on it, it can get claustrophobic.” Now 49, the actress says that she didn’t even want to look in the mirror. One time during a dance class, she kept falling on her ass because she refused to spot herself in the full-lengths all around the studio. “Finally my teacher came up to me and said, ‘They’re all looking at their selves.’ It was kind of a revelatory moment.” This October, she pays it forward with a makeup line of corals, oranges and burgundies that are sure to give a confidence boost in the face of any reflective surface. Even more of an eyeful? The collection’s humongous 15-color eye palette.

Do the least amount with your brows.
“I clean mine up a bit but I don’t thread. They’re actually not as thick as they were. When I do fill them in, it’s the lightest amount. I like this gel, because it doesn’t get too crunchy.”

Be more playful.
“I use our cream blush duo on my lips and eyes. But I use a bristle brush rather than smear it.”

“I look the best when I’ve been outside, when I’ve been active. “
Don’t overdo the smoky eye.
“Gradually make it smoky. I just recently learned how to do it from a woman I’ve known for 20 years. I finally called her, and she taught me on FaceTime.”
