MANILA, Philippines - We snuck backstage at the YStyle x Olay Cutting Age event to ask experts for a beauty cheat sheet on the looks of the season.

For their pre-holiday fashion presentation, the designers looked at different inspirations to complete their stories on beauty that defies the ages. Helping them bring their visions to life are the MAC team, helmed by key makeup artist Odessa Andal, and the stylists of Jing Monis Salon, who break down these high fashion beauty concepts into easy-to-follow procedures.

Proudrace

Their look: Proudrace’s Pat Bondoc and Rik Rasos went for intensity in simplicity. “Our girl is a free spirit, a modern nomad.”

Makeup: For skin that’s velvety and with a luminescent sheen, Andal prepped and set it with MAC Lightful Serum, Strobe Cream, and Mineralize Moisture Foundation. Eyebrows were defined yet kept soft using both Lingering Eyebrow Crayon and Girl Boy Brow Set, then the lashes were coated with Opulash Mascara. Andal finished the ethereal, no-makeup look by applying Silver Dust iridescent powder as a highlighter.

Hair: To prep low-dried hair for braiding, Jing Monis Salon stylists sectioned it first then applied clay wax. After finishing the braids, they finished off the look with a shine spray product.

Maureen Disini

Her look: Disini also went for the classic red lip as the face’s main attraction. “Set on matte skin and paired with soft brows, it’s a dramatic look that’s easy to achieve.”

Makeup: Andal applied BB Cream on the skin as base followed by foundation. Then, after applying lip primer on the kisser, she coated the lips liberally with Ruby Woo lipstick. “Use the Cherry lipliner as well to insure the color from bleeding and fading,” she advises.

Hair: After blow drying hair straight, Monis pulled the sides toward the back, tucking and pinning them in place. He then teased the top front section of the hair and brushed it toward the back of the head, locking the look down with hairspray.

Milka Quinn

Her look: “I envisioned a bold look, with strong brows and deep wine lips, worn with a fresh and easy hairstyle,” Quin says.

Makeup: “I went for high fashion goth: oxblood lips on a pallid complexion for that mesmerizing, pre-Raphaelite beauty,” Andal elaborates. To achieve this, skin was prepped first with Prep & Prime Moisture Infusion Serum followed by Mineralize Charged Water Gel for a luminous look. Lips are then filled in with the combination of Diva lipstick and Burgundy lipliner, and the whole look was topped off with strong brows.

Hair: Stylists pulled hair back in a mid-high ponytail, but leaving the top front section behind. They then teased and brushed up this section toward the back with a detangling brush, then pinned it down with the rest of the hair. Apply hairspray for hold and shine.

Martin Bautista

His look: “She’s the kind of girl who’s obsessed with applying her eye makeup,” Bautista says of the kind of beauty who’d wear his collection. “She takes her time doing it in front of the mirror, but that’s just it. No bold lip color, no blush — it’s all about the eyes.”

Makeup: Andal used Carbon eyeshadow all over the lid then smudged both lash lines with the Smolder eye pencil. For a dirty, uneven finish, she loaded on the lash lines with Blacktrack Fluidline liner. “It's the season’s tougher aproach to makeup: rebellious, anti-glamor, and attitude driven, calling for black on black on black, abruptly applied, destroyed, and almost unfinished.” This extreme smoky eye was paired with lips filled in with Supremely Confident Sheen Supreme and Peachstock lipsticks.

Hair: With the face already dramatic, Stylists kept the hair simple: blow-dried hair was put up in a loose ponytail then finished with a shine spray product.
