MANILA, Philippines — Labor leader Eva Arcos has joined the highest policy-making body of state-run pension fund Social Security System (SSS).

President Marcos has appointed Arcos as a full-fledged member of the Social Security Commission (SSC) after serving as an acting member for one year.

Arcos previously served the SSC in 2015 and 2016 as one of the three workers’ group representatives.

As a member of the SSC, Arcos will be responsible in governing the pension fund in terms of policy- making, monitoring and overseeing management actions pursuant to the Social Security Act.

Arcos joins SSC chairperson and Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, SSC vice chairperson and SSS president and CEO Rolando Macasaet, as well as SSC ex-officio member and Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma.

Other commissioners include Diana Pardo-Aguilar, Manuel Argel, Jose Julio, Robert de Claro and Jesus Sale.

Arcos is a member of several SSC committees such as on information technology and collection, risk management and investments, audit and governance.

Macasaet said Arcos would continue to be critical in shaping the policies that govern the SSS.

Arcos is a currently member of the Global and Asia-Pacific IndustriALL executive committee and women’s committee.

Arcos earned her business economics degree and masters in labor policy and administration and psychology from the University of the Philippines.
