Swatch Time to Party

GO-SEE - Joyce Oreña -

Who says only the Brits know how to throw a royal party? They can learn a thing or two from the Swatch Perfect Match party host and Swatch Philippines president Virgie Ramos. If you weren’t one of the 1,900 invited to the royal wedding, your next best bet would have to be one of the 100 invited guests to the Swatch Perfect Match party last April 29.

The Swatch Greenbelt 5 store was the place to be. And The Swatch Interactive Billboard… right next

door… was a great idea! It was like a Swatch stage that everyone was a part of in a truly interactive way — you’re talking live, real time Swatch experience. A red carpet fit for royalty welcomed special guests. Flashbulbs from the paparazzi greeted guests while Tim Yap gave each one the red carpet treatment.

Makati’s own Big Ben clock was set up to countdown the event while a string quartet played favorite hits from Brit bands in the background. Even the palace’s carriage was there. It felt like being in the middle of London. It was a day of perfect matches!

The day was the day of the royal couple, Prince William and his newly titled bride, the Duchess of Cambridge, and the time to shop for the perfect Swatch.

The royal event at the center of Makati started with a bang as Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Shamcey Supsup gave the cue to sound off the Big Ben. And, a royal treat would not be complete without a delectable high tea table prepared perfectly by Margarita Forès.

The fun began with Swatch Ambassador Anne Curtis officiating the party games. Swatch-Bijoux pieces were given to those who knew most about the royal wedding. Big shoppers with Metrobank Cards seemed to have the most fun.

The night of perfect matches also presented another royal pair, the Swatch Diaphane One Full Turn Night designed for men who appreciate sporty yet elegant setting. The timepiece features a glossy black ceramic finish and genuine alligator leather strap in limited edition. While the one-of-a-kind Diaphane One Full Turn White is perfect for women who have modern yet sophisticated taste. It’s highlighted with baguette diamonds encrusted at the hours and capped off by a genuine white alligator strap.

Before the royal wedding, Derek and the lucky lady “bride” had their own cake-cutting ceremony and toast while George Michael’s, You and I, specially recorded for the royal couple, played in the background. The party had only begun. The Queen’s buffet of Beef Wellington, smoked salmon with caviar and blinis and lamb shepherd’s pie were served while the Royal Wedding was going on. Like everyone around the world, the highlight of the night was the long awaited balcony kiss. Like the more than a million people who descended onto Central London for the occasion, and the billions all over the world glued to their “tellies” to witness the event, Swatch party guests all had a kilig moment (for lack of a better word!) when the balcony kiss finally sealed the Royal Wedding.

It was not just the staterooms in the palace that hosted a glamorous party that night. Swatch turned the room into one hip and happening club after the wedding. Thanks to the Swatch team and creative director Rowell Santiago for a perfect event. At Swatch, the guests were clubbing like the royals. It was indeed a perfect affair for the Swatch Perfect Match party.
