Through short-form videos, The STAR expanded its storytelling through informative and engaging visual content.

MANILA, Philippines — In today's digital landscape, visual content has become one of the most popular ways people consume information. Whether through short-form or long-form videos, audiences increasingly turn to visual storytelling to stay informed and engaged.

To respond to this shift, The Philippine STAR introduced “VIEWtorials,” a series of short-form videos that combines editorial storytelling with compelling visual narratives.

While the way information is delivered continues to evolve, The STAR’s purpose remains the same. “VIEWtorials” was created to engage audiences through stories that inform, inspire and remain relevant, regardless of the platform.

Another focus of Viewtorials is meaningful and informational family-centered stories.

Beyond print

The inspiration behind the concept was to show that journalism could go beyond the printed page.

“The breakthrough that we wanted to create is that journalism can go beyond the printed form,” says PhilSTAR Media Group Executive Vice President Lucien Dy Tioco. “It can be expressed in a video or a visual format.”

The concept of “VIEWtorials” showed how The STAR could bring its storytelling beyond print and into a format that today's viewers could easily engage with.

Each episode is built around a story designed to inform, spark conversations and offer viewers fresh insights.

Among the focus areas of “VIEWtorials” was financial literacy. In partnership with brands, The STAR produced stories that made financial concepts easier to understand and more relevant to everyday life.

The videos explored practical topics such as saving, budgeting, investing and financial planning. Through these stories, “VIEWtorials” helped viewers gain valuable knowledge while allowing brands to contribute to meaningful conversations.

Brands such as Globe, Metrobank and Avida also partnered with “VIEWtorials,” recognizing its ability to tell stories that inform while effectively communicating their advocacies.

Purposeful storytelling

More than creating content, The STAR values building meaningful relationships with its brand partners. Through creative executions such as “VIEWtorials,” those partnerships become opportunities to inform, inspire and engage audiences.

Bringing each episode to life requires close collaboration among the creative and brand teams. Every episode goes through a careful process to ensure that it remains engaging while upholding The STAR’s journalistic standards.

As audiences continue to embrace visual storytelling, “VIEWtorials” reflects The STAR’s commitment to exploring new ways of delivering journalism while staying true to its purpose of informing the public. While formats may evolve, every story remains guided by the values of accuracy, relevance and trust.
