Stallion Laguna, Ilocos clash in Biñan
Match today (Biñan Stadium match)
4 p.m. – Stallion Laguna FC vs Ilocos United
MANILA, Philippines - Stallion Laguna FC and Ilocos United FC seek to move up the Philippines Football League table as they duel today in a “closed stadium match” at Biñan Stadium.
After securing a nail-biting 1-1 draw with Global Cebu last Sunday for its first point after dropping its opening day assignment to FC Meralco Manila (1-5), Stallion aims for maximum points in the 4 p.m. home fixture.
Veteran Ruben Doctora and homegrown Jhan Jhan Melliza, Yannick Tuason, Nathan Alquiros, Darwin Regala and Fitch Arboleda are tipped to spearhead Stallion in its bid to rise from the bottom of the standings.
Fellow one-pointer Ilocos, for its part, looks to rebound from its 1-2 loss to pacesetting Manila in a May 13 away outing that saw it squander a one-goal lead. Graham Caygill, John Kanayama, Angelo Marasigan and Dominic del Rosario expected to take charge for Ilocos, which had a 1-1 standoff with Davao on opening weekend.
The protagonists are similarly gunning for their first victories in the new league.
Meanwhile, the PFL postponed the day’s other scheduled match between home side JPV Marikina (three points) and Kaya FC Makati (four points) due to unavailability of the former’s designated home, Rizal Memorial.
