Big Chill heating up in time for playoff

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Big Chill continues to struggle in the elimination round but coach Robert Sison believes his troops will hit top form once they get into the playoffs.

The Superchargers are coming off a 68-54 win against Café France last Thursday, snapping a three-game skid and taking off some pressure on their shoulders.

Sison sees the victory as a springboard as Big Chill stays well within the cut to make the playoffs.

The Superchargers seek a second straight win and bolster their playoff bid when they take on winless Derulo Accelero in their scheduled 12 noon encounter today at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City.

Big Chill is currently tied with idle Boracay Rum at fourth place with a 3-3 (win-loss) record.

The top two teams after the single round eliminations earn outright semifinal berths. The next four teams will advance to the quarterfinals with the third and fourth seeds earning a twice-to-beat advantage.

The bottom four teams will be eliminated.

“I think we’re peaking at the right time,” Sison said after their victory against the Bakers (2-4).

But he knows too well they can’t take the Oilers lightly.

Derulo Accelero remains winless in six games and its desire to finally make it into the win column makes the Oilers dangerous.

Blackwater Sports also tries to enhance its playoff chances and stretch its winning streak to four games when it battles Cagayan Valley in the other game at 2 p.m.

“We’ll just enjoy the ride and try to get going,” said Blackwater Sports coach Leo Isaac.

following their 89-74 victory against struggling Hog’s Breath Café last Tuesday last week to improve to 3-2 record.

With a 2-4 mark the Rising Suns are in danger of elimination making them a tough challenge for the defending champion Elite.
