Highlands Ladies Cup at Midlands

MANILA, Philippines - The leading golfing ladies from the country’s top clubs headline a huge field clashing for individual honors and a wide array of prizes in the eighth Highlands Ladies Cup firing off today at Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club in Tagaytay.

Keen but friendly competition is expected in the 18-hole tournament, which also features the organizing Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter’s guests from the government and private sectors plus the bigwigs from the business community.

Felix Ang, president of CATS Motors, Willie Ocier, vice chairman of Belle Corp., THLC chair Marixi Prieto and Pilipinas Shell chair Edgar Chua will hit the ceremonial drives to kick off the event at 8:30 a.m.

Play will be held under the System 36 scoring format in the centerpiece ladies division while other titles to be disputed are the Classes A, B and C in the men’s category and the seniors, according to tournament co-chairs Dionne Cu and Connie Mamaril.

CATS Motors, exclusive distributor of Mercedes Benz in the country, again serves as the event’s diamond sponsor with support from Security Bank, W Group Inc., Pacific Online and BDO as platinum sponsors and Pilipinas Shell and Baron Travel as gold sponsors.

Petron, Midas Hotel, Smart, SM Prime Holdings and Comworks are the silver backers while Regent Travel, Kawsek, Inc., RCW Construction, Ajisen Ramen, Marie France, Canon Marketing, Liwayway/Oishi, Orocan, Unilever, H&E Marketing, Merlo Agricultural Products, Francisco Varua, Bum Chil Heo, Kaiser Health, Hanford, Universal Robina, Concrete Masters and Unilab make up the bronze list and Contempo, Splendido, Abby Lapid and Betchay Mendoza as donors.

A Royal Caribbean cruise of Asia for two on board the Mariner of the Seas, a trip to any US destination courtesy of Delta Air Lines and a Piaggio Ape utility vehicle from Auto Hub will be staked as hole-in-one prizes.

The event also serves as a fund-raiser for THLC’s favorite charity institution, the Sisters of Mary boys and girls town center and the Pearl Buck Foundation in Silang, Cavite.
