Mighty Sports reaches Espiritu Cup final

MANILA, Philippines - Mighty Sports beat Gerry’s Grill for the third straight time, 97-74, to advance to the finals of the 15th Danny Espiritu Cup at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong recently.

Jett Manuel and former Xavier School star Angelo Wongchuking waxed hot in the final half as they buried Gerry’s Grill with a rain of triples en route to the runaway triumph.

With the win, Mighty Sports, which also drew significant numbers from former PBA stars Marlou Aquino, EJ Feihl and Gherome Ejercito, earned the right to meet SkyForce in the finals of the event honoring the popular basketball agent. 

Meantime, Wongchuking finished second in the three-point shootout won by former Letran hotshot Ismael Junio. 

Mighty Sports, which completed a five-game sweep of the elims, is gunning for back-to-back championships after beating the same Gerry’s Grill squad for the Mandaluyong Cup recently.
