Eijansantos tops Anvaya Cove triathlon

-

MANILA, Philippines - Kevin Lyndonn Eijansantos delivered a performnce worthy of his inclusion in the 2012 nat ional pool as he ruled yesterday’s fourth Anvaya Cove International Triathlon held at the Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club (ACBNC) in Morong, Bataan.

Eijansantos, 19, won the race in wire-to-wire fashion in two hours, 13 minutes, 30 seconds in the extended race course covering a 1.2K swim, 32K bike and 6K run organized by ACBNC in partnership with Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP), Globe Business and Ayala Land Premier.

A former high school varsity swimmer for UST, Eijansantos did the feat coming from sick bay and on a course made the slippery by the rains. He also had to contend with the spirited challenge fellow young triathlete Marc Alexander Altura and last year’s champion Levy Ang.

Veteran Franchesca Carpo made her move in the third and final loop in the bike before sprinting away in the run leg to claim the female title in the event also supported by Gatorade, Century Tuna, Pacific Winds, Folded And Hung, Havianas, ROX, Fitness Magazine and Subic Shutter Club.

A record high 169 triathletes took part this year eliciting praises from the host ACBNC.

“We are very glad that the number of participants keeps on improving since Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club hosted the event in 2008. We are looking forward to another successful edition next year where we hope to see 200 triathletes in action,” said general manager George Cadhit.

Cadhit was joined in by resident manager Jovie Reyes, Ayala Land Premier Icel Dy and Globe representative Lei Balbastro in giving out the medals to the top three finishers in the overall and age group categories.

Action started Saturday with the SuperTriKids competing in aquathlon and triathlon events.
