Kiamco, Canadian clash in US 8-ball final

MANILA, Philippines - Warren Kiamco defeated Amar Kang of the US to stay on track for the 14th Annual US Bar Table Championship 8-Ball Division crown at the Sands Regency Hotel in Reno, Nevada Sunday.

Kiamco, a former SEA Games gold medalist, will dispute the title with John Morra of Canada, who booted out Kang in the loser’s bracket for the other final berth.

Kiamco, who drew a bye in group play, disposed of Mark Estes, Jerry Matchin, Stan Tourangeau and Sylver Ochoa to make it to the final stage.

The ace Filipino cue master then trounced Brandon Ashcraft before nipping Kang for the first final berth in the double elimination format.

Kiamco is eyeing a follow-up to his victory in last week’s 14th Annual US Bar Table Championship 9-Ball Division tournament where he beat American Leron Nevel in the finals.

Kiamco pocketed $4,650 for the win with another victory in the 8-ball finals making him eligible for the $5,000 bonus.
