MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has warned public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers yesterday that making social media content while behind the wheel is a violation of the anti-distracted driving law.

The warning was issued following an observed number of emerging vloggers and content creators who produce content while driving PUVs.

LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said vlogging constitutes distracted driving and may endanger passengers and other road users.

He added that social media engagements, including browsing, scrolling, liking, commenting or interacting with social media applications, are prohibited as it violate the fundamental condition of every certificate of public convenience to prioritize public safety and convenience.

“We call on both operators and drivers to be mindful of this law not only for the safety of all passengers but also for all other road users,” Mendoza said.

The LTFRB will impose a P5,000 penalty for drivers found violating the orders.

Under Republic Act 10913, or the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, drivers are prohibited from using mobile communication devices and electronic entertainment and computing devices while driving to prevent road crashes.
