DOH logs 117,952 dengue cases
MANILA, Philippines — Nearly 118,000 dengue cases have been recorded nationwide, according to the Department of Health.
The DOH said 117,952 dengue cases have been registered from January to August this year.
Health Undersecretary Gloria Balboa said the figure is 41 percent lower than the 201,533 cases logged last year.
The three regions with the highest number of dengue cases are Central Luzon, Calabarzon and the National Capital Region.
With the rainy season, Balboa said they expect dengue cases to go up in the coming weeks.
The DOH reminded the public to practice the “4 Ts” to eliminate dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
The 4Ts represent taob (flip), taktak (shake/spill), tuyo (dry) and takip (cover) of containers serving as potential mosquito breeding sites.
Those experiencing symptoms such as fever with rashes, muscle and eye pain and vomiting are advised to seek medical attention.
