3.91 million register for BSK elections

MANILA, Philippines — Up to 3.91 million voter registration applications for the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections have been processed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Of the figure, 2.02 million are women, based on the latest consolidated data from Comelec regional and central offices.
The poll body said that processing of all applications is complete.
The registration covered multiple types of applications including new registration, transfer of records, change of name or status, correction of entries, and reactivation, inclusion and reinstatement of records in the voters’ list.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the registration turnout is nearing the poll body’s projected number of new voters.
“More or less, 1.2 million are regular voters and about the same number are SK voters. These are first-time voters,” Garcia said. “If you look at it, there were almost four million who went to our registration sites nationwide.”
