Man stabs barber over bad haircut

MANILA, Philippines — A man unhappy with his haircut stabbed the barber, police reported yesterday, as it filed a complaint for attempted murder against the suspect, identified only as Eljim, before the Quezon City prosecutor.
Eljim, 27, stabbed the 43-year-old barber in Barangay Pasong Tamo on Monday, about 30 minutes after paying for the service, said Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, Quezon City Police District officer-in-charge.
The barber told GMA News yesterday that he merely followed Eljim’s initial instruction to cut the hair only on both sides of the head.
Eljim, however, changed his mind, and asked the barber to also cut the bangs.
The barber said Eljim paid for the service, but returned 30 minutes later and stabbed him once in the cheek.
Holy Spirit police station 14 operatives conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect at his residence.
Eljim reportedly admitted trying to kill the barber because he was “not satisfied” with the way his hair was trimmed.
“I asked for a faded cut, but I did not ask him to cut the crown hairs. He cut it even if I didn’t consent to it,” Eljim told GMA News.
Police records show Eljim had a record for murder in 2022.
