Manhunt for Dayang slay suspect intensified
MANILA, Philippines — Police have intensified the manhunt for a suspect in the killing of veteran journalist and former Kalibo mayor Juan Dayang.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Marbil ordered PNP units to find and arrest the suspect.
A cash reward of P500,000 has been offered by the municipal and provincial governments of Kalibo and Aklan, respectively, for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
“His identity has been confirmed and we are exhausting all means to bring him to justice,” Marbil said in a statement.
Dayang, who worked in mass media in various capacities, was shot dead at his house in Barangay Andagao on April 29.
Records showed the suspect had a prior criminal record and was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in Pasig City on May 2021.
