Cop teaching gun proficiency hit by bullet

MANILA, Philippines — A policeman was injured after a bullet ricocheted, hitting him in the stomach after teaching cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Silang, Cavite about firearm proficiency on Saturday.
The victim, with the rank of corporal, was at the firing range of Camp General Mariano Castañeda in Barangay Tartaria when the incident happened, according to police investigators.
But according to the victim, he was already at the PNPA barracks to change his clothes after teaching the cadets about gun proficiency from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. While changing, he felt something grazed the left side of his stomach.
The victim found blood oozing, prompting him to rush to the academy’s health service for examination.
Personnel rushed him to the Ospital ng Tagaytay and later transferred him to the Tagaytay Medical Center for further treatment.
