School principal killed in gun attack

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A principal of a public elementary school was killed in a gun attack in Pigcawayan town in Cotabato on Wednesday night.

Regina Cortez, 46, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene, Maj. Andres Sumugat, Pigcawayan police chief, told reporters yesterday.

Cortez was on a motorcycle on her way home when she way waylaid along the highway in Crossing Tubon area.

An investigation is underway.
