3 Marine soldiers hurt in ambush

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Three troopers of the 2nd Marine Battalion were wounded in an ambush in Picong, Lanao del Sur on Sunday.

Pfcs. Stephen Saragal and Elijah Taccas, and their companion Pvt. Romy Torallo Jr. were in a military truck when the armed men waylaid them along Lanao del Sur-Pagadian Highway in Barangay Punong.

The troopers were taken to a hospital for treatment f gunshot wounds in the body, according to Col. Jibin Bongcayao, Lanao del Sur police director.

A manhunt was launched for the suspects, whose group has yet to be identified.
