2 slain in Cotabato ambush

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two persons were killed while six others were wounded in an ambush in a secluded barangay in this city on Sunday night.

The fatalities, identified as Tato Malindatu and a certain Mugia, were in a car that gunmen strafed with bullets in Barangay Kalanganan 2.

Six others – Nilan Agar, Mohaimen Ali, Ali Balabaran, Nando Malindatu, Norman Pasawilan and Amar Piang – were taken to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Village officials told journalists that the incident could be related to a quarrel between two groups during a barangay concert held in the area the previous day.

Probers have yet to identify the gunmen and determine the motive for the attack.
