Boy, 6, drowns during excursion

SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan, Philippines — A six-year-old boy drowned during a family outing in this town on Sunday.

The family of the victim, identified as Mark Joshua Estrada of Marilao, Bulacan, was preparing to go home when the incident occurred at a resort in Barangay Nibaliw Vidal.

Police said Estrada’s mother failed to notice that her son had returned to the pool as she was packing their things.

The boy was declared dead on arrival at the Region 1 Medical Center Annex in Dagupan City.

Police said there was no lifeguard on duty when the boy drowned.
