MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested six Chinese men after they allegedly kidnapped two Taiwanese who failed to pay their debt to casino loan sharks in Las Piñas City on Tuesday afternoon.

Gou Zhikun, 28, Xiao Tze, Wang Weiping, Ma Zhao, Yang Huang and Lu Xiangquan are in police custody.

Members of the city police intelligence unit nabbed the suspects at a house at the corner of Daisy street and Marigold Road at around 5 p.m.

The victims – Sha Chang Ping and Hua Pin Yuan – were rescued during the operation.

Police said they recovered from the suspects a Mitsubishi Montero, cellular phones, several passports, P12,000 in cash and credit cards.

Las Piñas police chief Senior Superintendent Simnar Gran said the suspects could be members of a kidnapping group, which targets casino players.
