Woman killed, 9 others held in drug stings

MANILA, Philippines — A 45-year-old woman said to be involved in drugs was shot dead in Tondo, Manila on Monday night.

Rizalina Ortile, of Hermosa street, was found bloodied by Arnold Turla, 41, while he was walking along the railroad tracks in Barangay 184.

Prior to this, Turla said he heard two gunshots.

Turla rushed Ortile to the Martinez Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival from a gunshot to the head.

Chief Inspector Glenzor Vallejo of the Manila Police District homicide investigation unit said Ortile was on the drug watchlist of the MPD Station 7.

In eastern Metro Manila, police arrested nine persons in separate anti-narcotics operations in the past two days.

Marlon Lazaro, 42, was collared in a drug sting along Ortigas Avenue in Barangay Rosario, Pasig City.

Lazaro allegedly yielded three sachets of shabu and P200 in marked money.

Suspected drug pusher Sonny Gutierrez, alias Dodong, was nabbed for creating trouble along Agustin street in Barangay Palatiw.

When frisked, Gutierrez allegedly yielded a  sachet of shabu.

Siblings Ludy Corre, 46, and Renny Corre, 25, were apprehended in a drug sting along Nagpayong street in Barangay Pinagbuhatan.

Police said they recovered three sachets of shabu and the marked money from the Corres.

In Marikina, Jonnie Tulay, Christopher Padilla and Barbie Perez were nabbed for alleged shabu possession along Sumulong Highway in Barangay Sto. Niño.

Members of the Police Community Precinct 3 were patrolling the area when they chanced upon the suspects.

In San Juan City, Marlon Magbitang, 47, was arrested during a sting along F. Roman street in Barangay Balong Bato.

Magbitang allegedly yielded two sachets of shabu and P500 in marked money.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Dindo Reyes said Magbitang was arrested for drug pushing in 2016, but was released after posting bail.

Alleged drug pusher Marvin Ravina, 35, was nabbed after he reportedly sold shabu to a police officer also in San Juan.
