New EPD, NPD directors assume posts
MANILA, Philippines — Two senior police officials assumed command yesterday of two police districts in Metro Manila.
Chief Superintendents Alfred Corpus and Gregorio Lim took over as director of the Eastern Police District (EPD) and Northern Police District (NPD), respectively.
Corpus, deputy chief of the Directorate for Intelligence swapped position with EPD director Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Biay.
Lim, deputy director for operations of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), exchanged post with NPD director Chief Superintendent Clifton Empiso.
Corpus and Lim belong to the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1987. They were classmates of NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar and Empiso.
According to Eleazar, the minor reshuffle is not a demotion on the part of Empiso and Biay.
It was a decision of Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde to assign senior police officers to posts where they could be effective, Eleazar said.
“This is a routine movement of police officers to improve their performance against crime, especially illegal drugs,” he said. – Emmanuel Tupas
