Rebels torch jeepney

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas torched a passenger jeepney in this city yesterday afternoon.

The armed men pulled over the jeepney in Barangay San Roque at past 2 p.m. and ordered the passengers to get down at gunpoint.

The armed men poured gasoline on the vehicle owned by the Sta. Filomena Transport Group and set it on fire before fleeing.

The suspects reportedly shouted they were NPA rebels as they were fleeing. No one among the passengers was hurt.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
