'The Conjuring: Last Rites' breaks 3 Philippine box office records

KELOWNA, Canada — The final entry in "The Conjuring" franchise is bidding farewell with a number of box office records in the Philippines.
"The Conjuring: Last Rites" sees Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga returning one last time as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren after playing the characters in the franchise's four main films.
The new movie broke the record for the biggest opening day for a horror film of all time in the Philippines after its nationwide premiere last September 3.
It also broke the record for biggest opening for a movie with an R-16 rating, taking the crown from fellow 2025 horror flick "Final Destination Bloodlines."
Midnight screenings took place for "The Conjuring: Last Rites" and it set a new record for highest-grossing midnight screening for any movie in the Philippines.
Despite the three records, the film scored the second highest-grossing opening day for any movie this year.
