SM shopper is Premyo sa Resibo's newest millionaire

MANILA, Philippines – When Editha Camello received a phone call informing her that she had won the P1 million grand prize of the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) “Premyo Sa Resibo” raffle, it took a while before it dawned on her that she is now a millionaire.

“I could not believe it. I wept for joy,” she said. She never joined any contest or raffles so it was a complete surprise to her that she won. Little did she realize that the phone bill she paid at SM City North Edsa would change her life.

To Editha, the welcome windfall is an answer to her prayers. They wanted to move out of the house they had been forced to share with less than willing relatives but they simply did not have the money to do so. Her husband, a television technician, is the sole breadwinner for her and their two sons. She did what she could to help make ends meet.

It was the first time for the 33-year-old housewife from Tandang Sora, Quezon City to join PSR, a mobile raffle game aimed at helping the Bureau of Internal Revenue increase its tax collection and to make it a habit for consumers and establishments to issue official receipts.

Camello said she just decided to join Premyo Sa Resibo right after she paid her PLDT phone bill, amounting to P1,028, at the bills payment counter at SM City North Edsa.

BIR’s Assistant Commissioner Aida Simborio awarded Editha her P1 million prize on May 15, 2009 at the BIR National Office in Quezon City. Her husband and two sons accompanied her in this occasion. 

Editha still continues to participate in Premyo Sa Resibo, hoping that she will win again and realize her dream of eventually buying a house for her family in the future.

You can also join using your mobile phones by texting PSR <O.R. TIN>*<O.R. number>*<O.R. amount> to 9777 (for single entries) or 9778 (for multiple entries). Each entry costs P2.50.
