Francine Gacrama - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Swing into a mod state of mind in today’s Look of the Week as we take a closer look at Prada’s spring 2016 collection.

The Italian fashion house does it again in the form of boxy suits and retro knitwear that’s a maximalists dream come true. An aficionada at piling prints, the collection plays with linear patterns and seams in each look. Now if there’s one thing that we love about Miuccia, it’s her technique of marrying simple silhouettes with eccentric patterns. Despite the uncanny color palette, Prada always has a way of making things look cohesive. From a tidal wave of colors and edgy straightforward looks, this collection is one that you shouldn’t take too seriously.

She’s got a penchant for carefree classics and a laissez-faire spirit, it’s safe to say that our YStyle woman breathes this influential and downright eclectic sensibility down to a t.

Quant’s a style icon that brought the era’s greatest trends to the forefront and made it accessible to the masses through her shop on King’s road, in the Chelsea neighborhood of London. A non-conformist that didn’t want to wear adult clothes, she created the iconic mini skirt, hot pants and colored tights. Two years later she put up her second boutique and eventually branched out to the whole of Europe, the United States and also Japan. Tri-tone colored nails seem to be the talk of the town and its Morgan Taylor’s lead artist Gina Edwards who’s responsible for these coveted nails. Inspired by the juxtaposition of the scaffolding scene around the city and the softness of the country, Edwards married the idea of playfulness and toughness in this sought after manicure.

To get the look, begin with a base color that matches the natural color of your nails. A thin stroke of silver polish is then applied on the tips to mimic a French manicure and is finally finished off with a bold swipe of color around the cuticle line.
